Wellington, the windy city, is the capital city of NZ -- it is also the main city in the Wellington Region -- it is the home of politicians (who meet at "the Beehive") and for govt bureacrats and bean-counters. By accident, it also hosts exciting and innovative people. If visiting, check out the Cable Car, a steep climb up a small mountain from the heart of the city. The Cook Strait ferries leave here for Picton, in the South Island.
