Zealand, Auckland is the hub of commerce and industry. There are more people in
Auckland than in the rest of the country, and Auckland is the largest metroplitian
home of Pacific Islanders - there is an enormous cultural diversity in the 40-odd
miles of homes and parks that is Auckland. To escape the city, the Waitemata Harbour
and the Hauraki Gulf
beckons. Auckland is known as the "City of Sails" with more boats per
capita than any other city in the Southern Hemisphere. The West Coast beaches
at Piha - where Hercules, Beastmaster and Xena
are filmed - are black sand, while the East coast sand is white. Each is swept
by different oceans, the Tasman Sea to the west, and the Pacific to the east.
